Today, we begin the Advent season with our series “Those Who Wait,” highlighting that Advent is not simply a countdown to Christmas but a period of active, anticipatory waiting for the coming of Jesus. We will reflect on Psalm 72, which serves as King David’s final prayer for his son Solomon, emphasizing that true hope should be placed in Jesus rather than the transient hopes of life. We will be encouraged to recognize that while everyone hopes for something, the essential question is what and who we place our hope in—ultimately calling us to re-evaluate our hopes as we wait to fulfill God’s promises through Jesus, the true source of eternal hope.
