It is the first Sunday of Advent. As it has been our tradition for the past several years, and the greater churches tradition the past 1600 years we lite the candle of hope today in our celebration and anticipation for the coming of Jesus our Lord. In this, we are talking about hope that is beyond anything this world offers. Not hope to cope. Not hope that helps us muddle through our days, but hope that thrives. Hope that carries us through, pulls us through, and plows us toward victory in Christ. For Christ didn’t come to give us hope to cope. He came to give us hope that thrives.
